We rarely mention rumors around FastCast+, but this one is just too good to NOT talk about! (Also, this week AND next week we have mentioned Ellen’s Energy Adventure/Universe of Energy, so it feels somewhat timely.)

Our friends over at WDWNT are reporting a rumor that the Universe of Energy attraction at Epcot will soon be closed and replaced with a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. This doesn’t seem like it’s going to be an overlay, but a new attraction.

If you know us at all (and if you are our moms, you probably do), you know that we are not huge fans of Universe of Energy, as we have talked at length about the…well, length of the attraction, and how desperately in need of an update it has been for years. We’ve also mentioned that we think that Epcot may be next in the dock for updates, and this looks like those may be coming sooner than we thought, given the expansions at Hollywood Studios.

Guardians of the Galaxy was a surprise hit for Marvel Studios (with a sequel due out May 5, 2017), and one of the few Marvel properties they own entirely and can be used at the theme parks without conflict with Universal Orlando Resort down the road, so it makes more than a lot of sense to incorporate it where possible, should this rumor turn out to be true (which we cannot stress enough is STILL A RUMOR at this point).

But is Epcot the right place for this kind of attraction? What does that mean for the future of Future World?

Tell us your thoughts!

I, for one, welcome our new robot Star-Lord.
